Hector Herrera has been linked with a move to Roma in the Italian press.
The Mexican midfielder currently plays alongside fellow countryman Tecatito at Porto.
A report in La Gazzetta dello Sport claims this season’s Champions League semi-finalists will make a move for the 28-year-old if they lose either Radja Nainggolan or Kevin Strootman this summer.
Herrera has enjoyed a great season in Porto, helping to lead his side to the league title.
It’s thought Porto is reluctant to let Herrera move on, but if Roma came in with an offer of more than €20 million ($23.3 million USD) the Portuguese would allow him to leave.
Herrera has been a fixture for El Tri since helping the U23s win the Olympic Games in 2012. A year after his gold medal exploits, he joined Porto from Pachuca in a $10 million USD deal.
He has since gone on to represent Mexico on 65 occasions.
