Assistant referee Marcos Quintero Huitrón is under formal investigation from FEMEXFUT’s Disciplinary Committee.
The official is accused of “attacking” Xolos player Miller Bolaños after grabbing his shirt during a heated exchange.
The incident occurred in last weekends quarter-final second leg between Rayados and Xolos in Monterrey.
The commission reportedly views Quintero’s actions in dim light. The officials are considered to be the highest power on the pitch and aggressively laying their hands on a player is strictly prohibited.

Unsurprisingly, parallels have immediately been drawn with the incidents involving Pablo Aguilar and Enrique Triverio in the 2017 Clausura.
The two players “attacked” officials during play, forcing a refereeing strike and earning both men a one-year ban. The ban was later reduced on appeal.
Bolaños will be in action again on Thursday night when Tijuana host Toluca in the semi-finals.
