Nestor Araujo appears to be edging closer to an exit from Santos Laguna as La Liga side Celta Vigo step up their chase for the defender.
The news is another blow to fans of the Liga MX champions after rumors about Carlos Izquierdoz’s imminent departure started circulating earlier in the day.
Celta Vigo is managed by former Rayados boss Antonio Mohamed. The club has already been linked with moves for several of his former players.
Araujo has been at Santos since 2013 after joining from Cruz Azul.
The 26-year-old looked set to be the starting center-back for El Tri in Russia this summer, but an untimely injury ruled him out of the tournament. He was part of Mexico’s gold medal-winning squad at London 2012.
AS does not mention a possible price in its report.
