Cesar Montes does not want to join Chivas and is instead edging closer to a move to Ajax.
Last week, it was thought the 21-year-old center-back would move to Guadalajara as part of the deal to bring Rodolfo Pizarro in the opposite direction, but that possibility is looking increasingly unlikely.
Dutch news site VoetbalZone broke the news about Ajax’s interest. The report claims the Amsterdam-based club will decide between Montes, Lisandro Magallán (Boca Juniors), and Fabian Balbuena (Corinthians).
Mexicans have enjoyed considerable success in the Dutch Eredivisie in recent years, with Carlos Salcido, Andres Guardado, Hector Moreno, and Hirving Lozano all enhancing their reputation while playing in the league.
Montes is not the first young Mexican to be linked with a move to Ajax this summer. Last month, America defender Edson Alvarez was also rumored to be on the Dutch side’s radar.
Ajax finished second in the table this season with 79 points, four points fewer than Chucky Lozano’s PSV who were crowned champions.
