Club America has not yet made a formal offer for Dutch striker Luuk de Jong.
The player’s representatives are currently in Mexico City to meet with officials from America, but Marca says there has been no contract discussions and no bid.
De Jong’s father, George de Jong, and his agent, Louis Laorus, toured around America’s training facilities at Coapa earlier today. According to the report, they also took in the famous Estadio Azteca and visited the club’s High Performance Center.
In the evening, they dined with America’s hierarchy at a Mexican restaurant in the south of the city.
Although America is desperate to land a new striker before the start of the World Cup in a couple of weeks, the PSV forward is not the only option.
And, even if the club does decide to move forward with an offer, it is likely to face stiff competition from Tigres. The Monterrey outfit is thought to be considering the possibility of making a late move to hijack any potential deal.
