Almeyda’s reign as Chivas coach comes to an end

Things have gone from bad to worse over at Chivas.

If the rumors about Rodolfo Pizarro leaving to Monterrey weren’t demoralizing enough, it has now been confirmed by ESPN that Matías Almeyda will no longer continue at the club.

The tension between Almeyda and Chivas further developed when directors ordered his squad to report back from their vacation on June 4th without his knowledge, as opposed to his initial request of June 10th.

The Argentine manager has also expressed a great frustration with the club for not signing the players he has asked for to strengthen his squad.

The way his players were treated after not receiving their promised bonuses also played a significant role.

Matías Almeyda took over when Chivas were at their worst and made them into winners again.

In three years Matias Almeyda has taken a young Chivas squad to a league title, two Copa MXs, a Supercopa MX, and a CCL.

Perhaps this could be a blessing in disguise for El Tri. If the Mexico national team job is open after the World Cup, Almeyda will be a frontrunner to take over.
