Brizuela says goodbye to Chivas star in emotional tweet

Earlier on Sunday, Monterrey confirmed it had signed Mexican starlet Rodolfo Pizarro from Chivas.

Despite offers from Europe, Pizarro opted to stay in his home country.

The loss of Pizarro—along with potentially several other stars—is believed to be one of the main reasons that Matias Almeyda is on the verge of leaving the club.

The 24-year-old’s departure prompted former teammate, Isaac Brizuela, to take to Twitter.

“It’s been an honor to play with you,” said Brizuela. “I wish you success in your life and in your career, you deserve it.”

Monterrey paid $16 million USD for Pizarro’s services. A willingness to pay offer higher wages than Ajax and PSV saw the club beat the two Dutch giants to his signature.
